Caldey Corporate Finance is delighted to announce the sale of Event Communications Limited (“Event”) to Chargeurs SAS for an undisclosed sum.

The team at Caldey Corporate Finance led by Adrian Dray and Janine Vitali advised the Board and Shareholders of Event.

Event operates in the international exhibition arena working with Museums, Heritage Sites, Visitor Attractions, Brands and Exhibitions crafting spaces that tell stories with projects spanning Art, Nature, History, Technology, Community and Sports.

Chargeurs is a French quoted international group with four areas of focus: Protective Films, Fashion Technologies, Museum Solutions and Luxury Materials.

James Alexander, Events CEO, engaged with Caldey to provide advice through the complexities of negotiating, structuring and formulating a deal with a major international buyer quoted on the French StockExchange and continued to support and advise through the due diligence, legal, final negotiation and completion processes.

James Alexander said “None of the Board or the shareholders had any meaningful experience of selling a business. For the shareholders, selling the business was the most important decision they had made. Once made, we needed to ensure that the deal met our objectives and the complexities of the process didn’t distract us from the day job of running the business. Adrian and Janine’s vast experience gave us confidence they could navigate Event through to a successful conclusion. Their dedication, negotiation skills and trade craft has delivered a deal that meets all our objectives and at the same time, our new partners Chargeurs, is extremely excited to own Event – that is a great result for all.”

Tom Corkery, Head of Finance at Event commented “The attention to detail of Adrian and Janine and their focus on ensuring both Event’s successful historical performance and future potential were clearly aligned and demonstrated, as well as their support as the due diligence process progressed to its conclusion, ensured real trust and credibility was established with Chargeurs. Through the complexities of agreeing the appropriate level of working capital it was very important to me that I had somebody of Adrian’s experience to work alongside.”

Adrian Dray commented “Acting for privately owned businesses, such as Event, is the reason we set up Caldey – to help owners and owners’ families who have invested in their businesses, committed huge amounts of time and effort and often taken significant risks to realise premium prices for the exciting businesses they have created. We are delighted that Event has joined forces with Chargeurs, a business that understands the global Museum market that Event serves.”

Janine Vitali added “James and his team have demonstrated the strength of Event through the challenges of the global pandemic which has had a huge impact on its clients. Considering the challenges that organisations are encountering after the impact of Covid 19 and the need for Event’s clients to offer their patrons amazing experiences, Events is exceptionally well placed to deliver those experiences.”
